Q: Why would I want to fertilize this way over putting pellets on the ground?

A: There is not a more efficient way to fertilize that then through your irrigation system. Fertigation allows the landscape to absorb 90% of the applied nutrients, while granular applications typically result in absorption rates of 10% to 40%. Daily feeding in small, doses leads to healthier, more beautiful growth.

Q: How will fertigation help my desert plants?

A: Because the fertilizer goes through your sprinkler system, it also goes though your drip system. With our drought situation here in south west, it is the only way to fertilize and still save water and money.

Q: Do you change the formula for the different seasons?

A: Yes, we change for the different, seasons. In the spring there is more Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Iron, and other micro nutrients. In the summer it is not so strong, in the winter I add more Phosphorus, Phosphorus is necessary to the growth systems that move and store energy within the plant; if we limit the amount of Phosphorus we limit the growth rates. It is also a primary component of the plant cell for roots and leaf. Potassium is very important, it is not found in the cell walls, proteins, or chlorophyll. It is an energy source for the stomata, or sweat glands. They are found on the under side of the leaves. Without Potassium the stomata will not open and close as efficient. Iron, one of the main components of chlorophyll. There are many other nutrients that all work to help with the health of the plants.

Q: I have different plants in my yard do they all need the same thing?

A: No, because our mix has just about all the different ingredients we cover most problems. For example, Palm trees need a lot of Manganese, but a grasses don't use much at all. The lawn will take what it needs and leaves the rest, but the Palm will use more for its needs. I have never seen any of the plants get hurt from to much of the micro-nutrients.

Q: Can this system burn my lawn?

A: No, because the injector is regulated to put only small amounts of fertilizer it is impossible to burn your lawn. It is mixed with the irrigation water and only traces of the fertilizer are in the water.

Q: I have pets will this hurt them?

A: No, I have two dogs that play on the lawn and at times eat the grass. I have never seen any problems with them. One has been know to chew on a sprinkler heads and bite at the water.

Q: I have weeds - will this kill them?

A: No, Because I will not add herbicide, or insecticide to the mix. I will explain, most herbicides kill weeds on contact. If you don't have any weeds in your lawn the herbicide will not do any good. But if we have a windy day the water will spray on your good shrubs and will kill them. Another reason, is herbicide only works with temperatures below 85 degrees and while the weed is growing. So those cold winter days the weeds are not growing. This leaves us with only a few months out of the year to kill these weeds. For $200.00 a year, we will maintain the injector with fertilizer. If there is ever a leak, or it brakes for some reason you call me and I fix it. Think for a moment, can you fertilize all of your trees, shrubs, flowers, and if you still have lawn for only $16.67 a month? You can buy these injectors, and fill it yourself. But you will be paying $20.00 a month for the fertilizer itself.

Q: How much is the injector and installation?

A: There are different sizes, but for most homes here in Pebble Creek the small 1.5 gallon unit will do. It costs $425.00 for an injector and installation. According to the manufacturer, the life is over 7 years.

Q: Do I need anything special to have you install this injector?

A: Yes, you must have a Back Flow Proventor(PVB), or a double check. I will not install an injector if you have a anti-siphon valve. If you have a pool or pond with an auto matic fill. It must not be connected to the sprinkler system. I install these injectors to the main supply line for the sprinklers. We would not want to put fertilizer in your pool. If your home is not older that early 90"s you will most likely have a Back Flow Proventor. If you have an anti-siphon valve I can replace it with a PVB.
